Born and raised in Liverpool, Grogan’s work is deeply informed by her upbringing and the traditional hand skills passed down within her family. Her practice explores themes of nostalgia, social class, taste, and humour, inviting viewers to reflect on how these elements influence our understanding of art and tradition. Her creative process blends technical precision with personal expression, resulting in pieces that embody both formality and spontaneity. The composition is made instinctively during the modelling stage, and she employs a combination of sculptural modelling and hand wood carving to execute each piece. The works are further enriched by the application of traditional techniques such as water gilding and verre églomisé, using precious metal leaf. Through her intricate and thoughtful exploration of materials and technique, Grogan seeks to invite dialogue about the intersections of history, craft, and modernity, ultimately questioning how we remember, interpret, and celebrate our collective past.
